Hi a couple weeks ago I received a cheque from the Ministry of labour for a claim I filled against my former employer for wages owed from 2018. It is my understanding that this cheque is take home pay (the tax deducted by the employer)
Having already done my 2018 taxes is this money income for 2018 ? Do I have to have my 2018 taxes reassessed or is this considered income for 2021.
Thanks

My understanding is it will be considered income for 2021. Cash basis for individuals. Your er should issue you a T4 for 2021 or it may show up on your CRA account next March.

Why not pick up the phone, call CRA and find out for yourself.

Or....search the CRA website IT Bulletins (interpretation) to see if this is covered off.
