Around 10 years ago, my brother had some stocks in the Boston Celtics (NBA team). Currently, are there any pro sports teams that have shares for sale in the stock market?

There are on the london stock exchange eg CCP, TTNM, SOO. Be careful, they can be emotional investments and I say that as a life-long Tottenham Hotspur supporter and Spurs shareholder :)

Years back under Harold Ballard the Leafs used to be publicly traded.

Today, most professional teams in North America are part of some conglomerate or owned by an old, rich owner (who once they pass away, get bought by a conglomerate).

TD

TD Bank owns 14% of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, so you get a chunk of the Leafs/Raptors/Toronto FC/Marlies with every share of TD.
