I must have missed it.
What faith based policies did Harper bring in?
Were they "bad"?
Harper said very explicitly that he wants to pursue a religious demographic as part of the voter base, and has made direct attempts to appeal to them. This is exactly what the Republicans did starting with Reagan as well.

Just like an islamist, (swapping the religion) Harper directly appealed to a fundamentalist Christian supporters to gain and preserve political power. There are a variety of policies this impacted, but it definitely played into his middle east warmongering policies, plus his not to subtle anti-Muslim policies.

The part I disagree with most firmly though was Harper's decision to directly appeal to very religious people and have their ideologies influence politicians. This is not what we're supposed to do in a secular country.

Absolutely, it's very bad stuff. Harper's aggressive middle east policies put Canada in harm's way, endangered our soldiers, resulted in over 100 deaths of our soldiers, resulted in Canada killing middle east civilians, weakened the rights & freedoms of citizens with Muslim backgrounds and even weakened the citizenship rights of many Canadians. In his final couple years, Harper basically became an unhinged Republican.

Trudeau immediately put an end to many of those policies. He not only promised to, but he reversed some of Harper's most disgusting policies as soon as he was elected.

Second on Gladiator, but which one - original or remake?

Here mister market decides your 'returns' with a thumb or down, the same day you battle

In a way it is kind of nicer that way than slogging for 40 years and praying for hopefully 30 more that you stay healthy and your fortunes are not eaten by a black swan event or run away inflation.

Interesting you didn't identify a single policy.

I don't think we should have been in Afghanistan, but since we were there, we were obligated to remain and help rebuild and stabilize.
You can't just overthrow a government and take off.
So I agree, it was a bad decision for Chretien to deploy to Afghanistan, but once there we (Harper) was obligated to clean up that mess.

FWIW, I think Chretien was arguably right to deploy to Afghanistan, to save face from not deploying to Iraq.

@Money172375 if only people could be this disciplined to keep politics in an isolated area.

But you know that's not how it works. Some of our esteemed forum members can't post on a vaccine thread without praising Putin or talking about Islamists (talk about non sequitur) and can't comment on any stimulus discussion without foaming at the mouth about Trudeau.

Trudeau immediately put an end to many excellent Harpers' policies , introduced Liberal (the socialists/communists) ones, starting and continuing destroying Canada and it's democracy institutions, initiated huge corruption scandal with SNC Lavalin, fired from Liberal caucus 2 only smart and independent woman , committed several crimes etc...
P.S. When JT stop being PM (doesn't matter what will be the reason), I'm throwing a huge party with fireworks

1. btw our ballerina running the country continues doing a horrible job in pretty much every department, corruption rampant, bias running wild, then Covid hit & he has shown to be even less competent than previously suspected blundering his way thru and blaming the provinces for any criticism.
2. I think Biden will be better than Trump for Canada but he still has been a complete do nothing his entire 45 year career. Hope he doesn't croak or we get even worse from Kamel Harris.
3. I wish Harper would return to politics...O'Toole has been weak (although there's no sitting parliament due to Mr Socks so this may change).
4. I really like gladiator but watched it too often. It won't resonate with the youth as theres a lot of masculinity, sweating, and only 1 winner.
5. Oh, and Marge Simpson has way too much influence...just 8 seats or so but JT gives him anything he wants for power.

2. With killing XL Keystone pipeline?! I very doubt it..
3. I wish too ... Harper was the best PM in new history of Canada

P.S. Just to add ... JT is corrupted liar, criminal, "blackface" racist and dictator!

P.P.S I'm patiently waiting when Kenney gonna announce AB separation referendum (hence as per independent survey half Albertans want it -A February 2019 poll from Angus Reid found 50% of Albertans would support secession from Canada )... Next Liberal win and here we go ...

We humans are probably the only creature ever to have walked the earth that lives in two worlds; one real, and one based on narrative. And it seems like the narrative world is more important to us. We will insult anyone who doesn’t agree with our narrative with terms like “fascist”, “racists”, “misogynists”, “denier” and countless other terms designed to control the narrative without any discussion of the facts on the ground.

Yes, I am entertained.
