What are your thoughts on the differences between securities listed on NEO vs TSX?
In the past, I'd see securities available on both but there'd be less volume on NEO so for liquidity I've essentially ignored NEO and just used TSX. NEO came to my attention more recently with the introduction of Emerge ETFs listed exclusively on NEO.
That got me thinking about other differences so I did a little research. As of 2021-01-07, there are 876 ETF tickers listed on NEO and 1025 ETFs listed on TSX (1901 total).
Of these 1901, 788 are listed on BOTH exchanges. 237 are listed ONLY on TSX and 88 are listed ONLY on NEO (1113 total UNIQUE tickers).
What's the significance of this? Why would a firm choose to list exclusively on one or the other?
