I am in a tough situation and need some advice. Due to a loss of job over a year ago I have come on some tough financial times and do not have any liquid finances. I am also behind on some loans and my credit is not great. However things are looking up and I am just about to start a fairly good career with a new job I just got. Are there any type of private short term loans to help pay off some bills I'm behind in? I cannot go to a payday loan b/c I just started my job. Any thoughts? Thanks.

do you have a close friend?? Try and offer to draft up a Promissary Note that includes a reasonable interest rate and time frame for re-payment. the promissary note is legally binding and therefore your friend can rest assured that their loan is protected because you will be lawfully committed to pay it back.

You could also try to negotiate with the creditors, explain your situation and try to come to an agreement for new expectations; principal owing, interest, timeframe. They'd rather help you to pay it back than have you default and go bankrupt, in which case they get nothing back at all.

Next consider some credit counselling... if that doesn't work, worse case, declare bankruptcy and start all over...?

best of luck, and do your own research for your options... these are just my suggestions which probably aren't the best. Seek professional advice.
