Hello. In 2020, I moved to another province to undergo a one-year educational program and I received the Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB). I'm trying to fill out the form at https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/cra-arc/formspubs/pbg/t1-m/t1-m-fill-17e.pdf to claim my Moving Expenses. This form says "Net eligible income: ...If you are a student, this is the amount of scholarships, bursaries, fellowships, research grants, and/or certain prizes required to be included in your income for the year." Do you think that net eligible income includes the CESB?

Thank you.

I think you need to contact CRA or a tax specialist. The way it works normally, In case it is not clear, is you claim your moving expenses against the income at the destination. It’s not because you are student, it’s because there is income associated with being a student (bursaries etc that go into net income). For most students the claim for moving expenses is justified when they move back home where they work for the summer.
