I'm new to investing field and trying to learn the ropes. I'm always amazed about how little I really know (when I think I know something!).

So tell me, how can the markets continuously rise with what has happened during the last year? Particularly, the large sum of money invested by the government to lend a helping hand to those in difficult times. When are WE going to pay for it? Everyone keeps talking about the infamous 'V' pattern, but nothing has changed, except we're in a mess and no one seems to care; or maybe we're not in a mess and all this stimulation has paid off.

Teach me, please.

Thanks :)

The stock market isn't correlated with economic growth.

Intelligent investing isn't related to the market. The DOW hit 10K today, which means that over the last 10 years it has done nothing.

Golly, Rickson, you edited out your own portfolio performance. Between you and the "I make $3mil a year after tax day trading" guy and the other guy who does 60% consistenly and yet another guy whose so sharp that he needs to open his own mutual fund just to put in his $5000 TSFA, CMF is attracting some very high rollers.

Let me ask something simple. Your not doing Beardstown Ladies accounting are you???

Are you investing to make a quick bucks or for a long term strategy?

If you want to invest because the market is up 40% since March, you are in the wrong business. Try the Casino, you have this much chance of making money but at least, you will see pretty girls around while playing ;-)

Seriously, the market will go up until it goes back down... to go back up again. The only difference is that, over a long period of time, it always goes higher up than it goes down. However, drops of 30%-40% had happened several times in the past and will continue to happen. It is the same thing with big market surges ;-)

So, if you think long term investment, buy a few market index ETF's and enjoy the ride!
