Why do you screen the postings on this site?

I replied to a goldman sachs post, showing insider trading the days before the announcement by the SEC, which illustrate insider moves by the SEC and you don't let them go through..

What kind of fascist place is this?

When you post for the first time, your posts are held in queue for moderation. The reason we do this is because of the volume of spam we receive. Once your first posts are approved, you are free to post anything you wish (as long as it conforms to site guidelines). We take freedom of speech very seriously and we don't practice censorship here.

What CC said.

Once you get through the initial hurdle of demonstrating that you are not spamming us with offers of purses or ... cell phone deals or whatever (I don't know what kind of spam is being screened out!) then you can post away freely. As I am doing right now!

Seriously I have my email linked on my website and you really wouldn't believe the crap I get every day. It pollutes your email address to the point where it's not worth reading anymore.

Moneygal forgot Viagra and vicodin ads, watches, cream for breast enlargement, make money in real estate, online MBAs, UPS parcels I forgot to pick up, Christian millionaires seeking out my help to transfer their money and more.

I imagine these people would love to post their ads in here as well.

I have a website. And I used to get those spam messages berube describes. Until I removed the direct email link. Problem solved.

Spammers crawl the web searching for email addressed denoted by the @ sign and various suffixes, .com, .net etc. So what I've done is change the linked email address to this format:

myemail 105 server 345 ca

Then add an instruction to the website that says to replace the numbers with the at sign and the .

Problem solved, spiders stay away.

Try it.

I get the screening part.

I just tried to subscribe to a thread and it said I couldn't do it and I was banned forever. Is that correct? Is there some rules somewhere I'm missing?

Thanks

This may be a bug in the system but why am I banned forever from private messaging other members? I have never done any private messages in the past on this site.

CC says when members post for the first time their posts are held in queue for moderation. But my third post a couple weeks ago in this forum was also held for moderation. And so was my second post before that. Maybe I'm doing something wrong here. Let me know either way. Thanks guys.

I expect that you have to be patient with your first few posts to give the mods a chance to approve you in their queue. I would think 24-48 hours is a reasonable wait to get unlimited posting abilities, including PMs.

This is my third post, although the second hasn't been "approved" yet.

I really dislike the feeling of "guilty until proven innocent" but I understand the reasonsn why this is so.

Is "image verification" something that is always required, or does it go away once a member is "trusted"? The letters are so obscure that it takes me two or three tries to get it right.
