Just wanted to pass on some promotions for free stuff.

I receive a newsletter from Free-Samples.ca and this week, there's a couple of note-worthy promotions:

Free Tim Hortons Iced Coffee
Tim Hortons is featuring a FREE small iced coffee on May 21st between noon and 5PM at most of of their locations. No purchase necessary. They want you to try out their new iced Coffee line and are offering free samples to their customers.

Free Hamburger Day

May 24th is Free Original Hamburger Day at Harveys. Since 1959, Harveys has been making your hamburger your way with toppings such as:
Hot Peppers
Tomato
Mayonnaise
Make sure you get your free hamburger; it's a beautiful thing.

Enjoy!

I just went to McDonalds today and they are also offering FREE iced coffee in the hopes that they will not lose any business to Tim Horton's. And that offer is NOW, not just starting at noon.

I think I'll be jittery by the end of the day from all the free coffee ;-)

What would you guys think of having a "deals and freebies" sub forum?

On the whole, not a bad idea.

On one side, you may find the financial purists who might prefer to keep the forum focused on financial matter for fear of diluting the "weightier" information.

On the other, people who like free stuff!

Creating a sub-forum for deals and freebies gives people a playground in which to play in that area, and makes more serious folk happy that the integrity of the other forums is maintained.

Just playing Devil's Advocate, but won't there be a tonne of links to the other major Canadian deal website.

Neutral comment :p, not sure if this is good or bad for the community or the forum organizers.
I suspect that there will be a few links to RFD, but I don't have any problems with that. I don't expect that this sub forum will be extremely busy anyways.

I think you hit the nail in the head FT, people come here to discuss financial topics. If they are looking for deals or freebies, there are plenty of sites out there that are dedicated to us Canucks.

RedFlagDeals.com, SmartCanucks.ca and FrugalShoppers.ca are a few that come to mind.

It's like going to Loblaws to buy home renos stuff, sure it may be available at a good deal but you have to wonder what kind of help and knowledge staff can give you, compared to Home Depot or Rona.

I hate to see this forum getting a couple of posts a month and that's all she wrote.
