If you are ever in Paris with some time, go to the rag and bone market at the (west I think) end of the metro, and walk a few hundred more metres. Fabulous old furniture collections on display for sale, organized by decadish. Biggest flea market and higher end market in Europe. Don't do the weekend - too busy, a Monday or Tues are good. Is clised some days so check first.

Seeing the early 60's lucite stuff made me remember bank lobbies of my youth, and boy does nice stuff of list for a lot today.

... Both have their accountant (same accountant) go to CRA to try and make so they didn't have capital gains, but only one successful.

I think CRA does look at the overall intent of the purchases and sales.
Could be ... though a key question that comes to mind is whether the second person is typically selling at a loss (i.e. bored and don't care what it sells for). Where almost all the sales are for a capital loss, CRA probably prefers reporting to be skipped so that they collect more tax revenues.

Cheers
