Brokerages with Free Level 2 Data?

4175 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  gocanada
Hi all,

Which brokerages have free Level 2 data?

On their websites, both BMO and Scotia appear to offer this for accounts over over 250k.

Any other brokerages (or other sources) offering this for free (or very low cost)?

Cheers!

I use Credential Direct, which is a broker associated with the Credit Union system. They have Level II and as far as I know do not have an extra charge.
Good luck.
Alright, I made a few calls :). Here's what I've found so far.

  • BMO - Canadian and US exchanges free with accounts over $250k (streaming data at over $500k)
  • Scotia - Canadian and US exchanges free with accounts over $250k
  • Credential - Canadian exchanges free with all accounts (no US exchanges, regardless of fees / account size). No minimum account size ($15k minimum to avoid the quarterly $25 administration fee)
  • Qtrade - Canadian exchanges free with all accounts (no US exchanges, regardless of fees / account size). No minimum account size ($25k minimum to avoid the quarterly $25 administration fee)

For US exchanges, I came across this link in another thread: http://www.bats.com/us/equities/market_statistics/book/AAPL/
Perhaps someone with Level 2 data from their brokerage can check how good / accurate it is. Note that there are four different Book Viewers (links at the top), which show different data.
