I was looking at BC Venture Capital Companies online and noticed that you get an additional 30% credit to your RRSP credit if you purchase these in your RRSP.

Has anyone had any experience with doing this, and if so, what are some good VCC's to invest in?

Sounds like those labor sponsored funds that gave an extra 30% RRSP credit.
There were usually severe conditions attached to them, like you are locked in for 7 years, huge penalty on redemption, totally illiquid, only available through certain advisor channels, etc.

I bought Working Opportunities Fund, and lost 30%. So with the tax break I broke even, except that I lost the use of my money for 7 years.

EDIT: IIRC, it has a management fee comparable to an actively managed mutual fund.

Did you receive any dividends? I was checking out the working opportunity website and it said that you can get up to 25% in dividends each year.
